The Client:
Farm Hitch is the brain child of Glenn Cruickshank MD of Shanks Engineering. In 2004 Glenn set up his own engineering firm and this has grown year on year since.  Shanks Engineering have a state 15000sqft of the art manufacturing facility in Carrickmacross Co. Monaghan where design right through to manufacture all happens under one roof.

For this project our Client was an established world leader in the healthcare industry. The company has had a presence in the Ireland for over 40 years. Our Client develops and supplies treatment solutions for complex medical conditions.


Project Engineering - Bringing Products from Design to Completion

Project Engineering were approached by BHSL (, a Limerick based international green energy company to develop their patented Toploader material handling system. The innovative system is designed to store and dispense large volumes of biomass, agricultural and other difficult to handle materials that are not suitable for storage/handling with traditional hoppers, silos etc.

Case Study: CE Marking Waste-To-Energy Plant

At Project Engineering, we have recently been working on a very interesting project with company in the waste-to-energy sector.  We were engaged to advise on how to CE Marking their latest waste-to-energy plant.

After visiting the factory and an operational plant to gather information, we set about identifying the relevant EU Directives, Irish & European Standards.

A European Standards search revealed, that like many of the projects we have worked on, there were no European Product Standards (Type C Standards) for the plant (ie there is currently no standard specifically for waste-to-energy plants like the plant in question).

In the absence of a Product Standard we worked directly with the relevant European Directives and Fundamental Machinery Safety Standards (Type A & B Standards).
